Sarah Lee

Sarah Lee is a self taught illustrative artist who lives with her teenage daughter and dog in London. She works full time as a Nurse, specialising in the care of people who are experiencing Psychosis. When she is not working, she will be painting or contemplating her next painting.

Sarah has been drawing ever since she could hold a pen, mostly creating surreal images, characters and other worlds that she conjures up in her own head. She is inspired by everything around her, the weird and wonderful objects she has collected over the years that adorn her home, the books she reads, obscure films, music, her thoughts and dreams, her nightmares, the people she meets and all the places she has travelled to. She works with many different styles and themes, that balance darkness and light, usually with some humour. Sarah is always evolving with her art work and styles, mainly using acrylic paint and sometimes photography (mixed media). She likes to keep her artwork varied as she believes it keeps it interesting for herself and hopefully everyone else. All her artwork can be found on her IG page @sarahleeee1980, where there are other originals and prints for sale.

Sarah is inspired by Outsider Art and Self taught artists work. She has recently been running art workshops in the community for those who have various mental health diagnoses and have been impacted by social isolation due to both mental health issues and the COVID-19 lockdowns in England. These workshops create social spaces for people to help alleviate loneliness whilst engaging in creative activities, in an inclusive and non-judgemental environment. Sarah is hoping to carry on with these creative workshops in the future so look out for her social enterprise “Swear Jar Arts” on herIG @sarahleeee1980.
